Sue creates horse stage props for the Jay Towne Players

She begins shaping wire into the outline of a horse head.

The wire shape is fitted over a rough paper form of a horses head and cardboard
and wire mesh are fitted with tape and small bits of wire

Paper is fitted into the ears and wire mesh is wrapped and tied around them.

When the shape is to Sue's liking, paper maché is applied
and half a ping pong ball is used for the eye.

Sue wanted legs that would move at the knee joint, yet be light and sturdy.
1/2 inch foam board is cut into the shapes for the legs and the interior structure.

The head of the horse is screwed to the upright post.
The shoulder and upper leg structure is slid onto the post through holes in the foam board.
A wire is left coming out of the head which will form the neck of the horse.
A balsa wood support is glued to the upright post and the wire,

There are six horses being made, the foam pieces are painted
and fabric is used for the neck and body

Finishing touches are applied to make the bridle and trimmings for a horse from medieval times.
