Vector graphics (also called geometric modeling or object-oriented graphics)
is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and polygons, which are all based upon mathematical equations to represent images in computer graphics. It is used by contrast to the term raster graphics, which is the representation of images as a collection of  (dots).

I draw with vector art to create graphics that will have multiple purposes
and will translate well in either print or web form

To make it realistic is dependant upon how much time you wish to put into each drawing.  The rock climber on the right was drawn totally in Vector and then put onto a Photoshop treated rock face.

I have found that creating graphics in Vector Art serves many purposes for me and I can take elements of one drawing and easily incorporate them into another as well as change sizes very easily
