Avalanche Lake looking South on the morning of October 31, 2007

The trail to Avalanche Lake begins at Marcy Dam.  I always power walk the two miles
into the dam, it's a wide trail and your likely to cross other travelers.  On this day
I came across no one all day long, I had the mountains to myself, at least where I was.

The trail leaves the Marcy Dam area and crosses a roaring brook on a well made bridge.
In Avalanche Pass are the remnants of the most recent avalanche, about 5 years ago.

Avalanche Lake has Mount Colden rising out of the lake on one side and Wallface Cliffs on the other

There is a series of ladders and bridges to bring you down the lake.
This was around my tenth time traveling to Avalanche Lake
