What's New for Spring 2008

Return to Eating Art Spring 2008

Sue and I started January with a trip to New York City, we stayed at Doug's and partied with Dave and Lettie.

This trip was all about museums, but we also had a nice time in the park and in China Town.  I don't think we can go to the city now without Sue wanting to go to China Town.

We saw the Georges-Pierre Seurat show at the Modern.  That was very inspirational for the both of us.  There's a link to all we did in NYC on the main page.

I must say that I think Sue has taken another step up in her silk painting design and techniques.
Is there nothing this woman can't do?
If your interested in a silk scarf, they won't last long.
Whatever Sue can make over several weeks in the winter will be the supply we will have to sell.

Same thing for these books I've made.  I did a regular pamphlet binding (below) with a hard cover and on the right I did piano hinge binding with my own paste paint decorated paper.  I felt the need to use my hands crafting books this winter.

Sue, on the other hand felt the need to craft instruments.  Here are a couple of the examples she is working on this winter.  Hopefully for the summer issue of Eating Art we'll have finished photos of this work.

In addition I have been steadily working on website design and graphic design this year.  All word of mouth has kept me with constant work to do, with most of it being interesting or meeting interesting people.  I've managed to keep it organized and keep over 50 clients happy, I hope.

On March 10th I had a set back.  I had a heart attack.  I had a stent put into an artery on the backside of my heart.  It can really put the kibosh on planning, so I've fallen way behind on my book binding projects.  But I had to sacrifice something so that I didn't feel I had to do it all while I'm in recovery.  I'm doing very well and the rest of my arteries look clean they tell me.

That's why I have a link to the Heart Center at CVPH in this issue of Eating Art.
