Copperas pond on an Autumn Day |
| There
are two trails to Copperas Pond, one goes straight up to the pond off of
Route 86 in the Wilmington Notch and then there is a gentler grade off
to the West, that first takes you past some beaver ponds and large Owen
Pond, that you can see below.
On the right, I can never walk past tree roots hugging a rock and not take a picture of it.

| At Copperas Pond you get a nice view of Whiteface off to the northeast. There's a lean to on the pond. There is a trail that goes around the pond, I followed another trail off to Winch Pond where I had lunch, below. | |

Winch Pond is a real frog pond, lots of stagnant water and logs in the pond, but interesting reflections also. The following four photos are all taken on Route 86. After Winch Pond I took the steep descent on the eastern part of the trail back to Route 86 about a mile from where I parked the car. But it made for an interesting and pretty walk where I took these photos. |
