This was my birthday hike and it was supposed to be a nice mellow day.  Hiking the little mountain across the road from my home.  I was up there exactly one year ago all by myself, this year Jerry came with me and this year the hike was totally different.  Last year there was still a lot of ice storm damage to the woods and the trail that Sue and I once made was all but gone.  This year even more limbs and trees had come down and there was little or no sign of the trail except nearer the top where animal trails could be seen.  It was very hard bushwhacking up the way we did this year

Looking northeast to Lake Champlain, east to the Town of Jay and Jay Mt., south to Basset Mt.

I can't  believe how tired I was on top of Hamlin.  I'd done this hike a dozen times before but it was a humid day and I went through my water quickly.  I only brought one water bottle and a thin sandwich.  I was planning on going right up and coming down by 1 o'clock.....I think we got home around 4.  Luckily the blueberries were ripe for picking and we took time to gather a pie.  LOOK......I saved you a piece.
