Ms. Paquette is the second grade teacher at Holy Name School in Au Sable Folks and my daughter Emily is one of her students.  For one of their field trips this year they went on a hike up Silver Lake Mountain.  It's a great mountain for 8 and 9 year olds, it has challenging assents and beautiful views.  Just as they were running out of steam we reached the top.

On the left is Taylor Pond and on the right is Silver Lake with Union Falls beyond.

They are a great group of kids and they all hiked wonderfully.

I recommend this hike for family's with young children.  I once took Emily up here on my back in a pack with she was one year old, this time it was a pleasure to hike with her again using her own feet.

The distance is about 2 mile round trip, there are some steep assents.
