A fun thing to do some day is to drive around Vermont and see how many Covered Bridges you can find.  There are maps to help you locate them but it still isn't easy.  The picture on the left is a bridge over a small creek leading to a farm, it was on a dirt road out of sight of the main highway with hardly room to turn around.

Many of them were single lane bridges and all of them were in use.

More than half of all the bridges we saw were different shades of red

They appeared to have been built ten years ago and some were over a century old.
